Product information
A sweet, balanced and beautifully easy-drinking dram, Langskip’s strength is matched only by its smoothness. Matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks, this whisky has a unique richness and an extraordinary depth of flavour. Bottled at 58% alcohol by volume, Langskip represents the very best of Wolfburn.
Tasting notes
Aromas of fruit blossom meld with dried apples and light oak. In the background you’ll find traces of raisins and dates mixed with rich fruit cake. Flavours burst onto the palate, rich and sweet, including maple syrup, dark chocolate, almonds and raisins. The finish lingers nicely – hints of vanilla gently fade away with a warming trace of caramel at the end.

Our strongest expression takes its name from the Norse word for longship – the Viking vessels that once dominated the Caithness coast. Sleek, smooth, purposeful, and strong, the legacy of these ships surrounds the Wolfburn distillery – in addition to settlements and burial sites, Wolfburn’s home town of Thurso was named by the Vikings in honor of the god Thor.
Langskip is crafted from unpeated spirit, matured for up to seven years in first-fill Bourbon barrels. Wolfburn’s trademark soft, sweet spirit shows off all its wonderful depth, being bottled at an undiminished 58%. Remarkably, despite its strength, the spirit shows no sign of excess heat but instead allows the drinker to experience a beautiful panoply of flavors.

About the producer
It has been a long time coming but as Wolfburn (re)opens its doors and fires up the stills, the next generation of Wolfburn whisky is slowly getting closer. The rebuilding is done, the new spirit is being made and laid down, now we’re just left with the hard part: the waiting. Some things may have changed since the last whisky was made in Thurso but the warm welcome for visitors to the lowlands beyond the highlands hasn’e and we look forward in the future to sharing some Wolfburn with you. A wee bit of history brought back to life, a wee bit of the spirit of the north.
