WINERY NOTES - We have some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in the region, and this vine age gives us consistency of flavour, texture and palate weight in our wines every year. The grapes are grown in our Home Block vineyard alongside the Wairau River, the first of our vineyards in the estate to be planted.
Pinot Gris is thought to be a mutant clone of the Pinot Noir variety, it normally has a greyish-blue fruit, accounting for its name but the grapes can have a brownish pink appearance. The typical Pinot Gris is full-bodied with a fresh, spicy flavour and notes of tropical fruit, stone fruit, or citrus.
