We are thrilled to be able to offer the extraordinary wines from Domaine de la Vieille Julienne at very compelling prices. At this point, La Vieille Julienne needs little introduction and has become an icon in the most famous of appellation from the Southern Rhone, Chateauneuf du Pape. We have long been fans of these wines where 5th generation owner and winemaker Jean-Paul Daumen has propelled this property into the elite of both Chateauneuf and the Rhone Valley. The reviews for the featured wines reflect the quality of the estate, the winemaking and the excellent 2019 vintage.
Rhone loving critic Jeb Dunnuck adores these wines, in fact rating them higher than the fantastic 2018's from La Vielle Julienne.
Dunnuck loved the Les Trois Sources bottling, scoring it 96 Points saying "this incredibly concentrated, textured wine has perfect balance."
Les Trois Sources is made from three vineyards located on the north side of the Mont Redon plateau. The soils are comprised primarily of sand and interestingly each of these vineyards has its own natural spring. The combination of soil, orientation to the sun and the influence of the Mistral winds allow these wines to find perfectly balanced ripeness with many layers of complexity.
Farming Biodynamically, Daumen refuses to use herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers and chemical products. He uses indigenous yeasts only and his wines certainly reflect the purity of his approach. All the wines are certified biodynamic by Demeter.
Make no mistake, the Chateauneuf du Papes are world class highly collectible and age able wines which would be a welcome addition in any serious collector's cellar.

JEB DUNNUCK 96 POINTS - "More cassis, morello cherry, Asian spice, and a beautiful sense of minerality and loamy earth emerge from the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Trois Sources, a full-bodied, concentrated blend of 60% Grenache, 15% each of Cinsault and Syrah, and the balance Mourvèdre. Coming all from the estate’s sandy soils in the northern part of the appellation, this incredibly concentrated, textured wine has perfect balance, building tannins, and a great finish. Give this beauty another 4-5 years in the cellar and drink it over the following two decades or more."
