Seriously, this is a fantastic value and the quality compares to many rose Champagnes at triple the price!
This pink-wrapped bubbly is a blend of 60% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir, and 20% Gamay. Pale pink in the glass with an active mousse that releases pleasing aromas of red fruits, pastry and grenadine. In the mouth, flavors of dried currants, nutmeg and luscious strawberries explode. Like Champagne, the second fermentation is in bottle. Aging is between 12-15 months, which adds a bit of dough and texture but keeps the red berry notes fresh and pure. Veuve Ambal was founded by Marie Ambal in 1894 and is still a family business to this day. After spending over a century at Rully in its original cellars, the Veuve Ambal Maison moved closer to Beaune in 2005. Its state-of-the-art premises inspired by traditional Burgundian materials signifies the combination of tradition and modernity.
