VINOUS WINE MEDIA 96 POINTS - "The NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Roises (2015 base) captures all of the signatures of the house style in its vinous intensity and resonance. Readers will find a Blanc de Blancs that balances the natural generosity of this site with that extra touch of energy from the Extra-Brut style. I would give the 2015 a year or two in bottle, as it is still recovering from its disgorgement about six months ago. Apricot, chamomile, dried pear, smoke and light touches of floral honey linger. Disgorged: March 1, 2020."
"Les Roises, made its debut in the 2008 vintage, and was released in late 2012. This 60-are parcel in Congy is planted with Chardonnay vines that are now 60 years old, and the soils here are deeper than those of Les Pierrières, with about 80 to 120 centimeters of topsoil above the bedrock of chalk. The vines here are affected by Court-noué (a pathogenic vine virus), giving the fruit an unusual concentration, and the grapes typically attain a high level of ripeness: part of this is due to the parcel's south-facing exposition, but also, Court-noué causes the plant's leaves to be smaller, resulting in greater exposure of the grapes to sunlight."
