The primary Zinfandel blocks at The Terraces is between 300 and 400 feet in elevation in the eastern foothills of Rutherford. Planted in 1981, the volcanic soil, known as Rhyolite, in combination with the "Werle" Family clone selection and St. George rootstock, produces intensely flavored clusters with concentrated, small yields.
"First planted our our estate in the 1870s, this heritage grape is what put The Terraces on the map, and with one sip you will know why. Deep purple in color, the 2022 Zinfandel features aromatics of vanilla, rblack cherry, mission fig, and uniquely distinct baking spices, especially that of cloves. The elegant palate is complex with ripe flavors of blueberry, black currant, black cherry, and baked plum. The finish carries through with hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper, and juniper with a long, bright, mouth-watering finish."
