Sullivans Cove Double
The wonderful Double Cask expression from Sullivans Cove in Australia is back, bottled at the higher strength of 45% ABV! It's distilled using Tasmanian barley and water from the rainforests and mountains surrounding Hobart. You probably guessed it already but the Tasmanian single malt has been aged in a duo of casks, American oak which previously held bourbon and French oak. Expect lots of stone fruit and honey in this complex whisky.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose Grain forward notes of baking rye bread with walnuts, woodworking shed, coconut and a hint of cocoa, followed by a big wave of honey, beeswax and orange cake.
Palate Lots more honey, as well as a briny coastal note and canned peaches in syrup, a warm spice of almonds and oat biscuits bringing earthy balance. Very smooth.
Finish More honey, orange peel and a big wave of vanilla cream, then a hint of lingering tropical fruits.
