The Silenus Estate Vineyard located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley contributed 28% of the Cabernet Sauvignon for this wine. The Estate Vineyard has a 50-year history of producing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. In its early years, it was used in the Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve wines, Silver Oak, and the classic Inglenook Reserve wines. 50% of the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Wurz Vineyard located a stone’s throw from Silenus Estate Vineyards and share the same alluvial fan soils to produce lush, balanced wine. The 22% Merlot is from Ranch 9 vineyard located at Monticello Road just Northeast of the town of Napa. The wine was aged for 28 months in 50% new French oak, 10 %new American oak and the rest in neutral barrels. This blend of oak integrates perfectly with the lush fruitiness of the wine and lends just the right amount of tannins for a perfect balance.
Brilliant ruby red color introduces black cherry, rose petal, vanilla, bay leaf and toasted oak on the nose. The palate has vibrant, deep flavors of raspberry, cherry, and plum with cocoa and vanilla extracted from the oak barrels. The wine is seamless and wonderfully balanced with bright acid, deep red fruit, lightly toasted oak and good structure that least to a long velvety finish.
