ORGANICALLY FARMED & BIODYNAMIC
Ernesto Catena learned well from his father and his family's famous winery. His Cabernet Sauvignon is medium-bodied and soft, but focused enough to keep the beloved variety's inner energy and sleek tannins. The oak contributes to a classic New World chocolatey tone along with baking spice like cinnamon, but has the balance and savory edge into the finish that's classic to Argentina's high-altitude, stony vineyards. The small sweet-and-tangy dark berries and light woodsiness is classic Cabernet Sauvignon.
"Intense reddish hues, clean and shiny, its nose resembles red pepper, olives, cinnamon, blackberry and cherries. An exquisite palate and an imposing structure while at the same time fresh, intense and long in the mouth with an end that persists and gives us a very pleasant aftertaste."
Ernesto Catena is the eldest son of Nicolás Catena and a fourth generation winemaker. As you probably know, Catena is perhaps the greatest name in Argentine wine-making and is responsible for elevating the reputation of the region as a whole. Ernesto wanted to focus his efforts on single varietal wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and this wine clearly shows his ability to do so. The grapes for Siesta come from Ernesto's Vistaflores vineyard in the heart of the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The vineyard is certified organic, yielding high quality fruit which is aged in American and French oak barrels prior to bottling.
