After we had tasted this and fell in love, we read a bit more about it on the winery website (serialwines.com; quote below). Mr. Truchard had us at "outstanding fruit quality" and "approachable pricing." This has been the goal of both our Wines of the Month since we started them a few decades ago.
The 2021 vintage of Serial’s signature Cabernet Sauvignon expresses the best of Paso Robles terroir with fruit sourced across several Districts. Opulent berry notes of black raspberry, wild strawberry, and boysenberry are tamed with savory herb, black pepper, and star anise flavors. Richness, high-toned acidity, and round tannins come together in this powerhouse wine to hug the palate ending with a with a superb finish.
"After years farming grapes in Napa Valley, I decided to explore a new terroir, Paso Robles. Serial Wines comes from the idea that we will be producing a series of wines from the region. I chose Paso Robles and surrounding micro-climates for outstanding fruit quality at approachable pricing. Here, I could make the rich, opulent wines for which we have become known, without an indulgent price tag. Serial Red Blend started the series in 2015 with unique labels of original artworks representing the diversity of the blend. Serial Cabernet Sauvignon followed.
