History,
Sempe's excellent VSOP is a blend of Armagnac aged between four and eight years from the Tenarez and Bas-Armagnac regions that is packaged in the company's classy, traditional Saint-Pierre triangular bottle.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: The aromas show quince, oiled leather, prunes, lavender, persimmons, fennel, cocoa, mahogany, dark roasted coffee and violets to conjure a svelte allurement to imbibe.
Palate: On the palate Sempe is much drier than the nose implied; it begins with the aromas as flavors and build to include black tea, raisins, allspice and roasted filberts.
Finish: The finish starts with a sharp fruit burst and then leads to a long warm, spice-filled finish. This is an excellent, traditional V.S.O.P. Armagnac to sip or use in an exquisite cocktail.
