After several years learning from and working for some of the Central Coast's most sought-after producers, owner and winemaker Curt Schalchlin decided to go his own way. He rapidly made a name for himself within the "Cal-Rhone Community" as one of the hot new producers of Syrahs, Grenaches, Viognier, and blends, and he's now regarded as one of the stars of the Central Coast.
Curt's Cotes du Coast bottling is his take on the white wine blends of the Rhone Valley, but is not constrained by their regional requirements. The fruit he gets is some of the best in the Central Coast, including Bien Nacido, Alta Colina, and White Hawk; vineyards you typically see producing wines 2-3 times this price! This bottling is comprised of 447% Viognier, 18% Marsanne, 15% Grenache Blanc, 14% Roussanne, and 6% Clairette, fermented in a combination of new French oak, used French oak, and stainless steel barrels.

His tasting notes for this wine read: "As I wandered along the windswept coast, the scent of the salty sea mingled with the sweet aroma of ripe peaches and tangy finger lime. I stumbled upon a secluded cove, where oyster shells dotted the sandy shore like scattered jewels. The air was alive with the scent of light florals & pineapple carried on the breeze, while the distant call of seagulls echoed against the cliffs. In this hidden oasis, I found solace amidst the rugged beauty of the coastline, where the green mango trees swayed in harmony with the gentle movement of the waves."
