BURGHOUND 94 POINTS - "Discreet but not invisible wood spice adds breadth to the otherwise perfumed, elegant and ultra-pure stone-infused red berry fruit nose that is also quite fresh within the context of the vintage. The detailed and strikingly intense medium-bodied flavors exude dry extract that effectively pushes the firm tannic spine to the background on the palate staining and massively long finish. This powerful effort is a potentially a great Clos St. Jacques that rivals its 2005 counterpart at the same stage of its development."
JOHN GILMAN 94 + POINTS - "The use of eighty percent new wood, instead of a full hundred, has given the ’09 Clos St. Jacques an even more pronounced signature of soil and the wine was absolutely singing at the time of my visit. The beautiful nose soars from the glass in a glorious blend of red and black cherries, plums, raw cocoa, grilled meat, herb tones, a great base of soil and a refined framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and absolutely refined, with a great core of fruit, ripe tannins and superb length and grip on the very elegant and intensely flavored finish. Great juice.
