Rossa Amara is the brainchild of Edoardo Strano, whose family has grown the very famous Tarocco blood oranges at the base of the active volcano Mount Etna for generations. They farm their own oranges, pick them by hand, and infuse them with other botanicals to make a delightful, citrus-forward amaro.
Of course, Rossa Amara is a standout product in its own right. However, with the addition of a year of aging in a rum barrel from the iconic (and now defunct) Caroni Rum distillery on Trinidad, the Amara takes on a richer mouthfeel with notes of vanilla, candied citrus, and panettone. Caroni, legendary for producing rum from cane and being the second to last distillery on Trinidad to close, holds cult status for collectors worldwide--and with good reason. Only 252 bottles produced.
