Annually, Rhum Clément releases an aged Rhum Agricole as part of its Grand Reserve Portfolio. This year to celebrate its 125th Anniversary, they launched two limited release aged rhum expressions from their Grand Réserve portfolio-- a six-year-old and a ten-year-old Rhum Agricole. The one we will look at is Clément 10 Year Old Grande Reserve Trés Vieux. This Rhum Agricole begins as fresh sugar cane juice which is fermented, masterfully distilled, rested and then it is aged for a minimum of 10 years in a combination of virgin French barriques and re-charred Bourbon barrels to spectacular results. The aromas reveal cocoa, grilled pineapple and plantain, mystifying spice, toasted coconut and nuts, tea, oak, vanilla and dried tropical fruit. The flavor reiterates the scents, focusing on tea, wood, nuts and spice. The finish lingers with finespun evidence of flavor in a chewy, intricate structure with bold, tasty verve carrying on to show a kinetic coquetry that constantly fascinates. Enjoy this delicacy neat with time to enjoy.
