MacLachlan is a native of Yakima, Washington, located in the heart of the Columbia Valley wine appellation. What began as an unabashed love for his home state and a desire to stay connected to his family roots, has become a true passion and dedication to the craft of winemaking. MacLachlan recognizes the connection between acting and winemaking in terms of the combination and balance of process, patience and creativity. He chose to call his wine Pursued by Bear as an homage to perhaps the most famous of all stage directions, "exit, pursued by a bear," from Act III, scene iii of Shakespeare’s The Winter's Tale.
WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS - "This distinguished red is sleekly structured and expressive, with refined black cherry flavors accented by dusky spice, pencil lead and espresso tones that build tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032."
ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA 92+ POINTS - "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley opens with a mentholated burst of dried herbs, violets, stone dust and spice. It’s silky smooth yet lifted and spry, with vibrant acidity and ripe red and black fruits that take on a mineral tinge toward the close. This finishes structured yet fresh, with admirable length and a pleasantly chewy sensation."
