The word Saldo has many different meanings in Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. In Spanish it mainly refers to balance on hand, and sometimes it can mean from here and there. This wine represents the best of the best lots made by the Prisoner winemaking team Northern California.
The new vintage of our iconic Zinfandel is beautifully balanced. Our Zinfandel grapes are carefully harvested from vineyards in California’s North Coast and Central Valley. We collaborate with grower partners, many of whom we’ve worked with for generations to carefully source the best quality grapes. From there, the best quality fruit is fermented on skins, giving the wine texture, structure, and color. The wine is then aged for about 10 months in American barrels. The juicy, spice-driven pour is delicious on its own, but can stand up to the strongest of flavors. We love pairing it with fresh and complex Mexican cuisine.
