POWERS JOHN’S LANE WHISKEY is a celebration of the original style of Powers Whiskey and the quintessential Irish Single pot still distillate. Matured for 12yrs. Full bodied spicy front followed by vanilla, honey, & dried apricot. The finish has lingering honey sweetness on toasted oak.

Distilled at the acclaimed Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland, Powers John’s Lane Release is intended to give the drinker a glimpse at what whiskey would have tasted like from the original John’s Lane distillery. Like its Midleton brethren (Red Breast & Midleton Irish Whiskies), this is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey which means it is made from a mash of malted and un-malted barley and triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills. The Whiskey is aged for a minimum of 12 years predominantly in American Oak casks which a touch of the final blend being aged in Spanish sherry casks. Finally John’s Lane is bottled at 92 proof and non-chill-filtered to preserve the integrity of the whiskey.

Powers John’s Lane opens up with a very masculine aroma with hints of leather, tobacco, & spice which segue into dessert-like chocolate truffles & butter toffee. Albeit the palate is considerably dryer than most Irish Whiskies, one can still find the classic honey sweetness abound. The use of American Oak really shows in the flavor profile of this whiskey as there is a toasty warmth full of vanilla tones while the sherry casks definitely bring the spice. Over all a superb whiskey from a distillery well-deserved of the highest regards.

Tasting Notes: An abundance of earthy aromas, leather, tobacco with layers of dark wood, dark chocolate, and treacle coffee. Full bodied spice front followed by vanilla, honey, & dried apricot. Lingering honey sweetness and toasted oak finish.
