Bara is famous for making thrilling Special Club roses and his 2009 is another winner. It is based on Bara's Spécial Club blend of two-thirds Pinot Noir and one-third Chardonnay with the addition eight percent of Bouzy rouge. It's pale in color and offers up a haunting floral, woodsy nose. In the mouth the wine is quite silky, with the Pinot Noir reflecting the ripeness of the 2009 vintage yet the impression is not the least bit ponderous. The finish is feels long and energetic on the palate, with it bright berry flavors anchored by vividly chalky minerality. Great for special occasion feasting.
