From the Valtenesi wine area along the shores of lake Garda, this is made using the rare family of grapes referred to as "Groppello." Medium-light in body, with a pale ruby hue, it has soft red fruits with a refreshing stony mineral undercurrent, and very fine light tannin. Locals might have with freshwater fish dishes or as an apertif with light hors d'oeuvres, especially cooled to 58F!
