ANTONIO GALLONI 93 POINTS - "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is bright, precise and vibrant, with red/purplish fruit, spice, lavender, rose petal and blood orange. Medium in body and supremely polished, the 2021 is a super-elegant wine that also shows the more nuanced style favored here today. The 2021 is a blend of fruit from the Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain and Oakville estate properties.
"O'Shaughnessy endured a challenging vintage in 2021. Yields are down 30-40% across the board. “In some places, we just ran out of water,” longtime winemaker Sean Capiaux explained. On a more positive note, the wines turned out beautifully. The 2022s are embryonic at this stage and in need of time. It will be interesting to see how they develop. O'Shaughnessy is among the many estates that are picking earlier in the past. “We used to target 60 days post veraison, but today it is closer to 45,” Capiaux told me."
