This whisky is a product of Nikka’s second distillery, the Miyagikyo. ‘Malty & Soft’ lives up to its name; it’s approachable, and yet complex enough to appeal to aficionados. The distillery takes a pioneering approach to its craft, making use of both gain and malt spirits, and a pair of Coffey stills.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: Pale sweetness, candy shop, later also the great dry pear that leads to lychee, mirabelle plum, vanilla
Palate: Full, peach, mirabelle plum, lychee, pear, a lot of light malt rustles, candied ginger, lemongrass, pistachio, star fruit, tropical honey, papaya, marzipan, vanilla, rock sugar
