From the largest Calvados appellation, simply called AOC Calvados, with crus spread all over Normandy, and spirits column-distilled a single time and generally made with only apples. The Huard property contains nearly 1,800 trees on 37 acres. The soil is loamy, composed of an ideal combination of silt and clay. About 30 varieties of apples are grown on the property, predominantly from the sweet and bittersweet categories.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: The Hors d'Age release comes from a careful blend of barrels from 10-20 years old. It shows deep green apple, vanilla and honey notes.
Palate: baked apples, toffee, fine tobacco smoke, almond skins, and honey.
