Now classified as a Gran Selezione from the Castelnuovo Berardenga vineyard of Vico Regio, this represents the Mazzei family's investment in the region's studies of various types of Sangiovese that have developed throughout the years. In this bottling, 36 types are represented. It's warmer by day in this area, but the nights cool down significantly: intensely structured with warm, dark-fruited tones.
JAMES SUCKLING 94 POINTS - "What a lovely, spicy and fresh-herb edge to this Tuscan red. There’s Thai basil, bay leaf and black pepper, which in turn complement the aromas of fresh blackcurrants, blueberries and spices. Full-bodied and very tight with bright acidity and fine, firm tannins. "
