In 2012, Macallan Gold emerged as a highlight of the 1824 Series, alongside Amber, Sienna, and Ruby. This series showcased the natural gradation of colour that occurs as Macallan’s revered spirit matures. Comprising whiskies aged nine to 15 years in first-fill and refill sherry casks, Macallan Gold was created to succeed the distillery’s age-statement expressions. Following the 1824 Series' retirement by Macallan in 2018, this expression saw a significant surge in demand, becoming something of a cult classic.
