The Macallan Edition No. 1 is the debut of a new, limited edition series to be released annually, for which a unique selection of oak casks will be identified to yield a new Macallan expression each year. Edition No. 1 celebrates The Macallan's unparalleled oak cask management policy that oversees the entire process from oak source to finished, seasoned cask. This expression is matured in eight distinct European and American oak cask styles as personally selected by The Macallan Master Whisky Maker, Bob Dalgarno, to create a rich and truly multidimensional whiskey.
The Character of each cask style lives within this whisky, creating a taste journey that begins with light flavor and takes one's palate to deeper, richer flavors. The Master Whisky Maker's choice of casks for Edition No.1 demonstrates the art of whisky making at its finest. There are many distinct components to this whisky and its story; these elements include the cask provenance, the different coopers, the cask size, as well as the bodegas sourced for sherry seasoning and the spirit's level of influence (first or second fill).
