"Great persistence here. Excellent" - Vinous

We recently sent out an email for one of the great Burgundy producers, Louis Michel which featured the Montee de Tonnerre vineyard. We just received another excellent premier cru parcel from Louis Michel at a very compelling price.

The Premier Cru vineyard Butteaux gets its name from the French word "butte", meaning the top of the hill. Its Kimmeridgian limestone-rich soils are deep and well-drained imparting the famous chalky notes Chablis is famous for. The Vieilles Vignes (old vine) bottling is a step up in both concentration and depth.

White Burgundy is one of our favorite wines and the purest expression of Chardonnay comes from the great, cool climate appellation of Chablis. This delicious, mouth-watering style offers such transparency and transmits the racy minerality in a way that no other can.

Wine critics love the clean, crisp and dry wines from this producer with Decanter giving this wine a score of 94 Points remarking on its, "notable concentration" and calling it, "an intense premier cru with great potential."

Over the past several years, the wines of Louis Michel have become a staff and customer favorite. They offer everything you could want, exhibiting signature characteristics of chardonnay from this region. These are the perfect wines to pair with oysters, shellfish, seafood or poultry or to refresh as we move into the warmer time of the year.

The Michel family has been making wines in the heart of Chablis since the 19th century and the domaine is now overseen by Guillaume Michel. Louis Michel & Fils were among the first to vinify its wines only in stainless steel tanks. This approach highlights the purity of the Chardonnay with these wines exuding finesse, purity and freshness.

This is a textbook example of what a quality Premier Cru Chablis should taste like and white Burgundy doesn't get much better than this at the price point.

Unfortunately, we were only able to purchase a small amount of this delicious wine. We are happy to offer it at the lowest price in the nation.

DECANTER 94 POINTS - "Restrained and with notable concentration, this is an intense premier cru with great potential. Notes of peach fruit cut with zesty lime citrus. Very fine. From 68-year-old vines on very dense, white clay soils which are like concrete when dry, heavy when wet."
