This is Le Piane's everyday red from the hills of the Boca area, vibrant and lighter in body than their other bottlings, and made only in stainless steel. They are a benchmark winery for the Alta Piemonte region in the foothills of the Alps. The fruit comes from an old vine-training system that dates back millenia called "Maggiorina," wherein 4 fruit-bearing branches of a single vine extend in 4 directions with the support of chestnut poles. While they have 40-100-year-old vines, there are also new plantings of selected clones from the old vineyards that serve as a supply for more 'youthful fruit.'
