This is the calling card bottling from Le Macchiole, their "purest and most unadulterated expression of Bolgheri," which will enthrall fans of today's classically-minded, full-bodied reds. Compared with their famous flagship bottlings, this is built for drinkability with an eased-up concentration and structure, and with less intrusive aging vessels like previously-used French oak barrels and concrete. Also, while the flagship bottlings focus on single grape varieties, this is a mix of their Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, each variety adding to the complexity and balance of the wine.
