Of course many folks immediately think of Rosé Champagne when February and Valentine's Day rolls around and we start planning on spoiling the loves in our lives... and to many of us here at Hi-Time (staff and customer!), Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé is THE ROSÉ we want to drink with our love! Of course, that is not a surprise to many of you, either, as this is, in fact, the region's best-selling brut rosé. We just wanted to remind you of how absolutely delicious this rosé is and how perfect a pour it is on Valentine's Day.
It was developed more than a half century ago, when company president, Bernard de Nonancourt, perfected a particular technique of Champagne maceration. Here, Pinot Noir grapes from carefully selected plots are sorted and destemmed before vatting. Maceration, lasting from 48 to 72 hours depending on the harvest - helps in extracting a deep color and fresh, fragrant berry aromas. This process makes it possible to obtain the richest and most subtle expression of Pinot Noir. This is a rose characterized by its ripe red fruit aromas while expressing all the richness of the 10 best Pinot Noir crus in Champagne and also managing to be very silky and light on its feet.
DECANTER MAGAZINE 95 POINTS - "Ethereal floral and raspberry nose. A vinous palate with a mild mousse, the soft texture all wrapped in spice, nuts, smoke and a superior berry tincture. Very long and easy to enjoy."
TYSON STELZER CHAMPAGNE GUIDE 94 POINTS - "Laurent-Perrier macerates it rose for 12-72 hours, depending on fruit ripeness, until the color is fixed and the aroma resembles freshly picked raspberries. So crucial is the timing, legend has it that the first chef de cave, Edouard Leclerc, slept by the tank to stop it just in time! This wine has achieved that elusive ideal of volume and finesse; the world's best selling rose Champagne epitomises the ultra restraint of rose's finest expressions...Its lastest incarnation of medium salmon hue is a beautifully elegant expression of strawberry hull, red cherry, and pink pepper, with an enticing waft of flinty reductive aroma, opening in time to the glorious depth of black cherries. A delightfully composed rose of excellent line, energetic acid backbone and softly mineral mouthfeel."
