Louis Kunde emigrated from Germany and purchased property in Sonoma Valley in 1904. The land was already planted to cuttings imported from Chateau Margaux and Chateau Lafite Rothschild. Flash forward to today, and the Kunde Family Winery is still family-owned and operated with a hands-on team of 4th and 5th generation family members at the helm.
As stewards of the land for five generations, Kunde believes sustainable farming results in the production of higher quality wines and ensures the viability of their estate for generations to come. From the valley floor to 1,700 feet up into the Mayacamas mountain range, the Kunde Estate is a magnificent patchwork of red and white varietal vineyard blocks. With 700 acres currently planted under vine, the remainder of the 1,850-acre Kunde Estate is left in its natural splendor, a sustainable ecosystem of oak woodlands, native grasslands, chaparral and riparian habitats.
The name "Magnolia Lane" in this wine pays tribute to the lane of magnificent century-old Magnolia trees that border the entrance to the Kunde Estate. The grapes for this wine come from sustainably-farmed vineyards, and this Sauvignon Blanc is dry, refreshingly complex, and offers up generous flavors. The wine was fermented entirely in stainless steel to retain freshness and protect the aromatics.
Winemaker's Notes: "Magnolia Lane has long been a signature wine for Kunde Family Winery and a go-to wine for our guests and Wine Club members. This wine offers bright crisp acid, beautiful citrus notes, and a pleasant flavor that lingers just a bit. I recommend drinking this wine with a little chill on it. Our Sauvignon Blanc is best accompanied by fresh oysters or light cheeses on the patio with friends."
