The vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet are located to the east on a slight slope, at an altitude of 230-360 m. “Les Perriéres” is an old name that comes from the word “pierres” (= stones). Many places on the Côte d'or have kept this appellation. This could refer to a quarry where the quarry workers were called "perrier".
