WINE SPECTATOR 91 POINTS! - "Expressive and distinctive, showing plump flavors of Key lime pie, with apricot, peach and ripe melon notes. Freshly grated ginger, candied green apple and lemon verbena linger on the sleek, juicy finish. Drink now."

You might think this is too good to be true, but go ahead and pinch yourself, because you are NOT dreaming. From one of our best value Cabernets in the store, comes a high-scoring Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is so good for the money, that Wine Spectator named this their "Value Pick of the Week"!

You could say that Joel Gott was born with wine in his veins, especially since his grandfather was winemaker at Inglenook in the 1960s-1970s. In 1993, Joel and his brother scraped up enough money to buy the Palisades Market in Calistoga, turning it into a wine shop within a gourmet food ship (best breakfast burritos in the valley!). Running the market taught Joel about a sector of the wine industry that was in need of high quality wine, but at an affordable price.

Fast forward a few years, Joel maxed out his credit cards to buy a few tons of Zinfandel from grower Tom Dillian, and with the help of his girlfriend (whom he married the following year), the wine received praise from Wine Spectator and The Wine Advocate, putting Joel Gott Wines on the map!

Joel Gott Wines are notable for the diverse fruits that are sourced for each appellation. The team cultivates long-term grower relationships with carefully selected vineyard sites in California, Oregon and Washington in order to craft elegant wines. Fruit from each vineyard is crushed, fermented and aged separately before coming together for extensive blending trials that drive the creation of each unique wine. Joel Gott Wines are precision-blended to pair well with a wide range of foods, all at reasonable price points.

For this incredible Sauvignon Blanc, they sourced fruit from several notable appellations in California. To preserve the wine's fruit and natural acidity, the wine underwent a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the lots are blended, taking care to balance the characteristics of each vineyard in the wine.

Fruit from vineyards in Napa and Sonoma add good flavor, minerality, and complexity. Lake County fruit adds citrus notes while grapes from Mendocino lends color and fruit-forward flavors. Fruit from the warmer Lodi appellation adds concentration to the wine while vineyards in Monterey offer tropical aromatics and well-balanced acidity. Within Santa Barbara, fruit from the cooler, marine-influenced vineyards add crisp, clean minerality and well-balanced acidity while fruit from vineyards located more inland experience morning coastal fog and afternoon winds, adding to the wine’s tropical notes. Blending fruit from these varied growing regions across California creates a balanced, food-friendly wine.
