This is made exclusively from a tiny, one-fifth acre parcel of 35 year-old Pinot Noir vines located in Bouzy just outside of the winery itself. It was vinified entirely in barrique without malolactic fermentation or filtration, and the total production is fewer than 900 bottles per year. At sixteen years of age, this still feels remarkably youthful and fresh with its rich, ripe, deeply seated Pinot Nor fruit essences and wrapped up in a skein of savory oak inflections while the pleasing finish impresses with its harmony and long lasting energy. This, new to us tete de cuvee, is definitely a "must try" example of Montagne de Reims Champagne at its very best.
