JEB DUNNUCK 98 POINTS - "The flagship 2021 Syrah Upslope is a top blend made from the single vineyard releases and checks in as 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier that saw 67% whole clusters and 22 months in 50% new oak. Its deep purple hue is followed by a gorgeous nose of cassis, ground black pepper, iodine, and spring flowers, with some gamy, meaty background nuances coming through with time in the glass. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied, and remarkably pure, with just about perfect tannins, it's a riveting Syrah that's accessible today yet has enough tannins to warrant 2-3 years in the cellar. It will blow you away any time over the following 10-15 years, and I suspect even longer."

ANTONIO GALLONI 97 POINTS - "The 2021 Syrah Upslope is another stellar wine in this range. The 2021 is a six-barrel blend from Bien Nacido (50%), Larner (33%) and Kimsey (17%). Seamless and racy in the glass, with mind-blowing balance, the 2021 is off the charts. I tend to prefer the greater singularity of vineyard designates, but this is a rare wine where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Superb.

"These are some of the most seriously impressive wines I have tasted from Jaffurs. Winemaker Stephen Searle squeezed every drop of potential out of what the vintage had to offer. "Our Rhône varieties were ready to pick at slightly lower sugars than what we usually see," he said. Two new wines from Francesca, a site on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, are also notable."
