With a grain blend of 70% malted barley and 30% corn, Iwai (pronounced E-Y) Tradition is a malt-driven whisky that provides a welcoming entry-point to the world of Mars Whisky. Hints of peat combine with a variety of barrels (ex-bourbon and sherry offer the brunt of influence with some ex-wine, port, and new oak being incorporated variably from batch to batch) to create a blended Japanese whisky that introduces clove and wildflower honey with just a hint of peat on the nose before transitioning to nougat and milk chocolate on the palate; cinnamon gracefully joins this restrained chocolate note on the finish.
