Varietal Composition: 100% Zweigelt
Tasting Notes: On the palate it has fruit forward flavors of cranberries and dark cherries with refreshing acidity. This wine is well balanced and easy to drink.
PRODUCER BACKGROUND The roots of today’s Helenental Kelleri (winery) can be found in the former Retz-Roschitz wine cooperative, founded in 1942 in Weinviertel, Austria’s largest specific wine-growing region (14,001 hectares). The winery is located in the village of Roschitz in the district of Horn in the state of Lower Austria. It is just 10 miles from the Czech border. Elaboration: Fermentation and maturation in stainless steel tanks. The cooperative, home to many award-winning wines, closed in 2013 and the winery is now owned and managed by Walther Schnopfhagen & Manfred Bannert. Walther grew up around the wine business and continues the tradition of collaboration between the region’s winegrowers.
