Fratelli Alessandria's history in Barolo goes back to the mid 1800s with familial connection to the Burlottos. They age for around 3 long years in traditional, larger Slavonian and French oak vats, favoring a moderately pure expression of the fruit.
On a different ridge (the one passing through Monforte d'Alba) from their home of Verduno, this bottling consistently shows a riper, darker profile, denser structure, and the greatest power of Fratelli Alessandria's bottlings.
KERIN O'KEEFE 94 POINTS - "Aromas of underbrush, dog rose, forest berry and new leather form the nose on the full-bodied 2020 Gramolere from Fratelli Alessandria along with a whiff of toasted nut. On the palate, taut, fine-grained tannins accompany juicy Bing cherry, strawberry compote, licorice and nutmeg before closing on a hint of hazelnut. Tightly woven, velvety tannins provide support. Drink 2028–2035. Abv: 14.5% Kerin O’Keefe March 2024 ©kerinokeefe.com"
