We looked at the V.S.O.P. In November, but to recap: Frapin is based in the town of Segonzac, in the heart of the Grande Champagne region of France. The Frapin family was established in the area in 1270, initially as a family of wine growers. Evolving into distillers, the Frapin family have continued on in this tradition for over 20 generations, making it their home and establishing their headquarters in the Fontpinot Castle at Segonzac. The Frapin Extra, Grande Champagne Cognac, is selected from the reserve that was harvested, distilled and extensively aged by Pierre FRAPIN and his descendants before being masterfully blended into this exquisite offering. Dulcet, recherché and delicate aromas of sumptuous fruits: mission fig, stewed plum, raisin and over-ripe peach set into a structured display of oak nuance. The palate shows the fruit tones stewed together and elegantly layered with clean, delicate spice while maintaining impeccable balance, structure and iteration. Frapin Extra is masterfully evocative from first sniff to the last whisper in the outstanding finish in which the aromas and flavors linger elegantly. This comes in a limited edition custom bottle that is individually numbered and presented in a special gift box. Try this neat with plenty of time to enjoy.
