Flor De Cana 130th Anniversary Rum In 1875 Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa traveled from Genoa, Italy, to travel to Nicaragua. Leaving behind his family, he set up a steamboat route, transporting passengers and goods from the East Coast to the West Coast of the US during the California Gold Rush. With the impending coast-to-coast railroad and the construction of the Panama Canal, he turned to distilling. In 1890, he set up the Flor de Caña distillery at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano. The rest is history. Flor de Caña recently celebrated their 130th anniversary. This limited-edition ultra-premium rum was crafted by Maestro Ronero Tomas Cano as a celebration of the 5 generations that have poured their passion into crafting some of the finest rum. Naturally aged in bourbon casks without sugar or additives, it's a blend of family reserve rums that is bottled at 90 proof. The label is signed by the Maestro Ronero and features an attractive volcanic rock stopper. About Flor de Caña Flor de Caña is a super premium, 5th generation single family estate rum from Nicaragua. About Rum Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor. We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
