Hi-Time's Top Port Wines of 2024
We just love this Tawny Port so much, not to mention its excellent value, that we had to include it in our Holiday Newsletter! The Ferreria Tawny Port is a stunning shade of crimson with deep tawny undertones that evoke its gradual maturity in wood. On the palate are notes of flowers and ripe fruit like figs, dates, plums, marmalade, and apricots--with a deep and powerful aroma. Beautifully balanced, this wine is full-bodied and rich in taste, with a delicate yet lingering finish. The selected wines usually vary between 4 and 12 years of age, achieving an average age of about 7 years. After opening, it maintains its qualities for eight weeks. Pairs well with caramel sweets and robust blue cheeses.
The wines chosen for this reserve final blend remain in the Douro after harvest and are transported to the Ferreira's historic Wine lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia (located directly across the river from Porto) the following Spring, where they are aged in oak barrels. The wines are subjected to a series of transfers, analyses, and tastings over a number of years in order to track their aging, blend preparation, and final adjustment when taste dictates. In order to achieve the house style, quality and consistency, Ferreira Dona Antónia Reserva Tawny is made up of wines between 4 and 12 years of age, averaging an age of approximately 7-years-old. This Tawny Port is ready to enjoy, just pop and pour. After opening (and with refrigeration), this Tawny Port will drink well for up to two months.

Ferreira Dona Antonia Reserve Port
I buy this wine, only for the late holidays. It's by far, my favorite. It is sweet; however, paired with a non-sweet food, it is excellent.
