Coming entire from the Robert's Road Vineyard, mother nature gave excellent conditions to produce an outstanding rendition of Sascha Marie all on its own: excellent ripeness and loads of gorgeous fruit balanced by Sonoma Coast freshness and a beautiful overall sense of harmony. Brimming with juicy, dark fruit and a generous, luscious mouthfeel, this is (as usual) some of Eric Kent's boldest, most up-front Pinot from the Sonoma Coast. It also handily displays both the depth and approachability of the 2021 vintage, which we might describe as having the intensity of 2018 combined with the approachability of 2019. A few extra months of barrel rest in a combination of new and older puncheons helped to knit flavors and structure together, and heighten the sweet exotic spices in the finished wine. The results are impressive and utterly delicious. And for all its up-front appeal and easy-to-love nature, the 2021 Sascha Marie will evolve beautifully for years to come, so try to sock some away!
