Garnacha Tintorera & Moravia Agria
This is a delicious, naturally-made, medium-bodied red with a lot of character! It comes from the plains of La Mancha, on the other side of the mountains from Valencia. Driven by rounded and floral-tinged Garnacha Tintorera (aka Alicante Bouschet), and complemented the local Moravia Agria's lighter, brighter character, this red is a wonderful marriage of the two. Purple flowers (violet and lavender), juicy cherry, Mediterranean herbs, and a "crushed rock" minerality form an expansive aromatic picture. The rounded mouthfeel comes with a sense of volume over weight, grounded by a gentle wash of earthy tannins. A delightful, honest wine at a fantastic price!
A portion of the grapes are fermented as whole clusters in a mix of nuetral oak barrels and concrete tanks, then rested for around 8 months to mellow the wine, but not lose those brilliant aromatics. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, and with a very small amount of sulfites for protection.
