Vinícola Emeve is the creation of Mexican businessman Mario Villarreal whose daughter Laura manages the winery. Villarreal dreamt of creating his own wine, something of beauty to offer to wine lovers all around Mexico. Enlisting the help of noted winemaker and enologist Reynaldo Rodriguez (an Ensenada native who received his formal training in Spain), Villarreal obtained cuttings from the University of California, Davis and in 2004 set about planting grapes.
Fruity and floral on the nose, with round flavors and good acidity. Persistent hints of plums, cherries, chocolate, dried fruit, vanilla and herbal notes make this a great accompaniment to red meat, pasta wiht tomato sauces, and an assortment of cheeses.
