Elouan is produced by the Wagner family whose roots as farmers in the Napa Valley date back to the 1880's. Joseph Wagner, A 5th generation winemaker, leads the winemaking team on this project as well as all the Quilt and Belle Glos wines. As a child, Joseph spent his spring and summer breaks in the Vineyard and Cellar at Caymus.
Much like the successful California sourced Belle Glos Pinot Noir, Joseph sought fruit from premier growing regions of Oregon each with their own attributes and blended them together with precision. This technique allows for a richly nuanced wine that shows beautiful character from each of the AVA's that comprise this bottling.
Garnet in color, this opens up with aromas of bright cherry, plum pie, cocoa nibs, and hints of baking spice. The palate is rich and well-balanced with notes of raspberry jam, candied cranberry, wild brangle, and a lingering pepper finish. Incredible depth and concentration complement rich tannins and lead to a smooth, medium finish.
