After distillation, the noble grappa is stored in barriques for 36 months.
The master distiller extracts this delicate, aromatic essence from the grape skins of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties.
An exceptional, very rare fine grappa. Rich aromas of dried apricots, vanilla, acacia honey and cloves. A soft, flattering start on the palate. It has a mild, honey-like texture, aromas of dried fruit and also roasted notes. The finish is long and intensely aromatic.
The Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is 91 hectares, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (43 ha), Merlot (33 ha), Cabernet Franc (7 ha) and Petit Verdot (8 ha). Currently, only 76 hectares are in production: 30 hectares in the original vineyard, and a further 46 hectares in the Bellaria vineyard just outside Bolgheri, which has belonged to the Tenuta since 1993.
