History,

Eagle Rare is a historic bourbon brand and is one of the five bourbons included in the award-winning Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.
Buffalo Trace's parent company, Sazerac, purchased the Eagle Rare brand from Seagram in 1989, who had developed it in the 1970s to replicate what it felt where the successful motifs used by the Wild Turkey brand.
Production of the label was moved to Buffalo Trace when Sazerac acquired the facility in 1992 (then known as Ancient Age).
A historic distillery, Buffalo Trace was built by Edmund Haynes Jr (also known as the Colonel), and was known as Old Fire Copper distillery. Over the years it has been the place of work of many of the industry's great names, including Albert Blanton, Elmer T. Lee and George T. Stagg, all of whom are immortalised by products produced there today. In the 20th century it has been known as a number of things, mostly as George T. Stagg, briefly as the Blanton's distillery, and most recently, Ancient Age, before becoming Buffalo Trace in 1999.

Tasting Notes,

Nose: sweet and sugary, with notes of vanilla, custard, powdered sugar, and well-baked shortbread, leather, nutmeg, and black pepper.

Palate: On the palate, it's not as sweet as the nose would suggest. Theres a lean quality to the palate, Orange peel, cherry, and vanilla bean. Although theres minimal tannin, its not slick theres texture here, but its understated velvet
