Seven is Dragonette's Syrah-based blend, originally named for the seven exceptional cool climate vineyard sites from which it was comprised. They have refined their vineyard sources for this wine over the years, selecting precise blocks and clones to increase aromatic and flavor complexity, rather than sheer fruit power. The 2021 Seven is comprised of 95% Syrah, 3% Grenache and 2% Viognier. The wine is sourced from John Sebastiano Vineyard, Stolpman Vineyard, Kimsey, and Spear. The wine was aged in neutral French oak barrels and puncheons.

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 95 POINTS - "The 2021 Syrah Seven contains 3% Grenache and 2% Viognier, and was matured for 17 months in used French oak. It's bursting with scents of boysenberry, red cherry, chargrill and garrigue with floral nuances. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated, perfumed fruit framed by powdery tannins and energetic acidity, and it has a long, elegant finish. 575 cases were made."

JEB DUNNUCK 93+ POINTS - "Always a Southern Rhône-like blend, the 2021 Syrah Seven is based on 95% Syrah and nearly equal parts Grenache and Viognier, all from the Santa Ynez Valley. Mulberries, peppery herbs, flowers, black cherries, and new saddle leather are just some of its nuances, and it's medium to full-bodied, with plenty of tannins, terrific balance, and outstanding length. It's a terrific red blend to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years, and it might even benefit from a year or two in the cellar."
