It seems that families whose names are well-established in other wine regions have been flocking to Oregon's Willamette Valley lately. However, it was the Drouhin's who were the first Burgundy family to stake a major claim into this now world-renowned wine region back in 1987. After tasting a wine from pioneer David Lett, Robert Drouhin was intrigued, and settled on this region for his next Pinot Noir venture. Poised atop the Dundee Hills, with gentle slopes that capture the breezes and sunshine, this 235-acre estate overlooking the Willamette Valley produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that rival some of the best in the world. With its red volcanic soils, cool nights, warm days, and elongated growing season, grapes from this property are destined for greatness.

The property is now headed by Veronique-Boss Drouhin, who is part of the 4th generation of Drouhin winemakers. Named after her eldest daughter, Laurène is their flagship wine, and is comprised of barrels which have extra complexity, length, and depth. This is a wine that is requested all year long here at Hi-Time, but we typically only have it for a few short months. On top of that the 2022 vintage is being heavily touted by the critics, and our buyer thinks this is the best Laurène he's ever tasted!

JEB DUNNUCK 97 POINTS - "The medium ruby-colored 2022 Pinot Noir Laurene is more layered and complex, with a cologne consisting of cedar, leather, black cherries, wild raspberries, umami savory notes, and mossy earth. Medium-bodied, it has more structure and slightly broader shoulders, with ripe tannins and evenly balanced, ripe acidity. It’s only going to improve with time and will drink well over the next 20 years."

ANTONIO GALLONI'S VINOUS MEDIA 94+ POINTS - "The 2022 Pinot Noir Laurène is spicy, revealing an intense burst of crushed cherries and strawberries complemented by hints of clove and a cascade of dusty rose. This is juicy in style with ripe red berry fruits that saturate as saline minerals amass toward the close. Violet and lavender tones linger through the lightly structured finish, leaving a pleasant tart blackberry tinge that slowly fades."
