Family-owned for over 30 years, Cristom Vineyards was established in 1992 by the Gerrie family to grow and craft distinguished wines of place that honor individual sites and traditional techniques. They incorporate a multitude of winegrowing and agricultural paradigms to enrich the soil and enhance the quality of the fruit, including organic and biodynamic farming principles, and integrative pest management.

Their home base in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA of Willamette Valley is a truly special area. Ancient volcanic soils and an ideal elevation range produce classic cool-climate Pinot Noirs that evoke a true sense of place. During the warm growing season, ocean breezes funneled through Oregon's Coast Range blow along the Van Duzer Corridor every evening, chilling this part of the Eola-Amity Hills more than ten degrees cooler than northern Willamette Valley sub-appellations. These maritime winds make for fruit that's lively with acidity and distinct in its freshness of flavor.

The 2022 Pinot Noirs from this region are real show-stoppers! Audrey Frick of JebDunnuck.com wrote in her recent report "Readers should be very excited about the 2022 vintage, since the quality is remarkably high."

We're excited for this vintage, as well, and can't wait to show you the wines. We recently received a small allocation of Cristom's "Paul Gerrie" Pinot Noir. This is a wine that earned 98 points from Audrey Frick at JebDunnuck.com, and there isn't much of it to go around. To date, there is no Willamette Valley Pinot Noir that has earned a score higher than 98 points from this publication, making this one of the highest scoring wines of the vintage!

Named after Cristom's founder, Paul Gerrie Vineyard is a consistent, gentle sloping bench of deep volcanic soil just to the north of the original estate in the Eola Hills. The site combines some of the greatest aspects of the Cristom estate-deep volcanic soils, bracing winds, and high elevation-into a single vineyard. It represents the culmination of knowledge gained from three decades of farming in the Eola-Amity Hills. Earthy aromas with notes of cola and red currant. This energetic Pinot Noir has bright acidity, lively tannins, and flavors of cherry, raspberry, sweet citrus, and spiced notes of tobacco and licorice, culminating in a persistent finish.

JEB DUNNUCK 98 POINTS - "The 2022 Pinot Noir Paul Gerrie Vineyard offers more lifted, savory, and deep aromatics, with an almost Nebbiolo-like structure, with an angular feel to its notes of black raspberries, wild earth, and alpine forest herbs. It has angular bright acidity, as well as lots of tension and linear drive, a stony, salty, mouthwatering feel, coiled tannins, and a clean, savory finish. It needs time to unwind. Drink 2026-2046."
